Athenry AC made a very special presentation to Mick Rice last night at our second organisational meeting for the upcoming Fields of Athenry 10KM on St. Stephen's Day: an engraved Glycine pocket watch. The watch was ostensibly really to commemorate his participation in the recent IAU World Cup 100KM but also to thank him for his many hours of hard work on behalf of the club and all its members since our founding back in October 2002. read...

Preview of The Hollymount 10k by Tom Hunt (Mayo AC) The 43rd Annual Hollymount Road Races take place in Sunday November 9th. The 3k+ course is a familiar testing one, with a stiff uphill finish along the main street in the village. Three laps make up the men's 10k, while the women just do one in their 3k race. Many famous names in Irish athletics have done battle here over the years and once again a top class field is expected from clubs around the province and further afield as well as the traditional coachload from Liverpool. read...

Ballycotton 2009 - Entry Procedure via Athenry Athletic Club - Information on Athenry AC and running in the West of Ireland October 30th, 2008 at 11:00

Back in the mists of the distant past, when we were a little younger, a lot more foolish and I still had some hair left, we used to organise a collective entry for Ballycotton. Unfortunately with the effects of the credit crunch and the increased numbers in the club, that sort of tomfoolery is no longer practical. If you're 'up' for the annual pilgrimage to Ballycotton it would be best if we organised entries individually or in small groups. Good Luck - and remember, let's be careful out there! The Galway County Cross Country Championships were held in Tuam's Palace Grounds for juvenile uneven ages and the various adult categories. It wasn't a day for the beach and that was for sure. As the earlier juvenile races were run off in attrocious conditions it was impossible not to admire the strength and sheer guts of the young runners who braved the wind, rain and muck to chase dreams around a park in Tuam. read...
